I decided to spend some significant time on my SCRAPPY GRANDMOTHER’S FLOWER GARDEN QUILT…….because otherwise this will be on my UFO list for YEARS!  LOL.  After two days of hand sewing, I am not sure how long this is going to last.  I appear to be a klutz with a needle, I guess, because I sure seem to put a lot of holes in my fingers……at least the blood doesn’t show up on scrappy fabrics and I do use a lot of reds.  🙂  How many thimbles can one hand hold!?  I already use two thimbles and a rubber finger (like they used in offices in the “OLDEN DAYS” to turn pages.)   Invariably the finger that is BARE is the one that I poke!  OK – enough whining.   🙂

Here is what I have finished so far….and now I am trying to decide whether or not to just have ONE BLACK PATH going through the garden or add a tan/gold path…..any votes?

With the black path....

With a little tan/gold path in between the black paths.....

I did get the back pieced for my Orca Bay #1 quilt – and now as soon as I get some batting I am ready to take it for quilting!

Sew Sew Day March 2, 2012

Posted By on March 2, 2012

Today was really a relaxing and fun day of sewing……Catherine had lots of attention from Ruby (the dog) and Midnight (the cat.)  It is a wonder that she got anything accomplished!  🙂  Ruby just LOVES Catherine and would barely leave her alone!

Catherine brought lots of SHOW AND TELLS – cute little kits from the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival Vendors…….and ribbons galore from recent shopping forages!  I sat in amazement as Catherine created little ribbon flowers to put on hair clips and pins.  She even put one on top of a package that one lucky quilter at the Colonial Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild will get tomorrow!

It was a very good day!  After one grandangel fell into the reservoir on Wednesday and another grandangel got a McDonald’s Chicken McNugget caught in his throat on Thursday, it was so nice to have a NICE UNEVENTFUL SEW SEW DAY on Friday!  LOL.

I took pictures of all of Catherine’s creations…….the little flowers are adorable!!!    Grandangel Sarah was the happy recipient of one of Catherine’s Bow Barrettes!  Sarah was also thrilled to be wearing HER SISTER’S GLASSES!     What did I do?  I worked on my Scrappy Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt.    It was a wonderful way to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss – and the birthday of Catherine YESTERDAY!  🙂

The colors for February - FIGS

I finished it and it will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative……:)  I am really enjoying this Color Challenge hosted by Judy Laquidara and directed by Vicki Welsh.  It is challenging to use colors that you would normally not use or combine.
