While I was waiting for Clue  5 to be revealed, I made the back for the On Ringo Lake Quilt – it is 4 1/2 strips of browns and aqua/teals.  I love scrappy backs.

Clue 4 On Ringo Lake and Christmas on Ringo Lake

Posted By on December 18, 2017

Clue 4 of Bonnie K Hunter’s Quiltville Mystery On Ringo Lake and my second one that I am calling Christmas on Ringo Lake has been completed.

This week’s clue was fun and relatively easy –  and it’s only Monday and I am finished with Clue 4 for both of my Quiltville Mystery Quilts.  I used Bonnie’s new ruler, Essential Triangle Tool for this one and my “wings” came out perfect!

Here are photos of my progress:

Clue 3 On Ringo Lake and Christmas On Ringo Lake

Posted By on December 11, 2017

This week we made “chevron pieces” for this year’s Quiltville Mystery.  I did manage to finish the entire Clue 3 for On Ringo Lake; however I only have the pieces cut  for Christmas On Ringo Lake.  Thanks, Bonnie K Hunter for this design that I KNOW will be fabulous…..it is exciting to make a mystery quilt because you have NO IDEA how all of these pieces will fit together in the end!

Bonnie K Hunter’s Quiltville Mystery Clue Two On Ringo Lake

Posted By on December 3, 2017

We are having a Sunday Link-up this time for  Clue 2 of Bonnie K Hunter’s Quiltville Mystery – On Ringo La,e.  I always make two mysteries – one in Christmas colors and another that either matches Bonnie’s colors or a choice of my own (depending on what I have in my stash!)

For Clue 2  we had to make flying geese units.  There are many different ways to make flying geese and I had tried them all except the one that uses the Folded Corners Ruler.  I am now officially a fan.  The units come out great with very little waste.

On Ringo Lake Clue 2 – Here are a few of my flying geese for CHRISTMAS ON RINGO LAKE (red and neutral) and ON RINGO LAKE (orange and neutral)

Everything is cut out except all of the neutral squares!

More Orange flying geese variety – clue 2

SAO Quilts and other Projects Finished in 2017

Posted By on December 1, 2017

This year I finished 11 quilts which brings me to a grand total of 217…and I am not counting the one that I pieced when I was 5 years old because my grandma cut out all of the pieces, sewed it together, and had it quilted.

Quilts Finished in 2017

#1     Mountain  Majesty Quilt  was made for my brother and his wife’s  (Dan and Glenda Albertson) dog, Lilo.  It is a Bonnie K Hunter Design and was quilted by Sara Parrish.  This was a pattern not for the faint of heart or for those with poor spatial skills (me.)  It took two grandangels, myself, and my son-in-law to get this quilt laid out properly!

#2     The Diver Dra Quilt was made from my brother, Dan Albertson’s, diving 5-shirts.  I designed the quilt  and Sara Parrish did the quilting.  It was a labor of love for sure!

K9 For Warriors

This K9 for Warriors project is a passion of mine.  Each month, 12 vets are given a service dog and spend 3 weeks in Florida training with them.  Many of the vets are able to give up meds for PTSD after having the support of these service dogs (who are all rescues, I might add.)  Ginger Whiting organizes the quilt for the dogs projects.  I sew the bindings on.  (This year I made 10.)
