Virginia Scrappers Fun February 23, 2013

Posted By on February 24, 2013

Whenever the Virginia Scrappers get together it is bound to be a lot of fun………we always do as much laughing as we do sewing.  There were five of us this time and we had at least two things to celebrate…….  Patsy is retiring and Catherine is recovering from pneumonia and broken ribs.

The two Catherine’s were wearing incredible necklaces……and I hope you can see the wonder from the photos!  As always the SHOW AND TELL was lots of fun…..I hope you enjoy the photos!  Catherine was working on several quilts to be donated to the ALZHEIMER’S ART QUILT INITIATIVE….I am sure they will bring in lots of auctioned funds for the research!

This year was extra special because we got a tiny bit of rain and snow……a beautiful experience at the beach.  There are LOTS OF PICTURES so you can just skip over them if you want……I had so much fun looking with my camera!  I loved the sunsets too!

Fun at Quilt Camp – Corolla, North Carolina – TERN OF THE CENTURY, February 2013

Posted By on February 24, 2013

We all have such fun at our annual quilt camp that we BEGIN thinking about our menus, projects, and prizes for the NEXT YEAR before we even leave Christy’s “PALACE AT THE OCEAN”  at Tern of the Century in  Corolla, NC.

Here are some of the photos of our fun….I hope you enjoy them!

We always learn from each other at Quilt Camp…..quilting techniques and other things are freely shared.  Lynne learned to use a new “Quilting” tool!

IMG_4439

It seems that Alma and Sandie began their pole dancing BEFORE their first sip of wine!  🙂  TOO FUNNY  There is something about someone holding a camera that just makes you “WANNA DANCE.”

IMG_4445

This is one of my favorite pictures from quilt camp….on VALENTINE’S DAY…. doesn’t it look like they are forming a heart?  Yes, they weren’t really pole dancing – they were making a valentine!!!

IMG_4446 IMG_4452

Love Delma’s homespun scarf….and she really knows how to model it too!

IMG_4460

I won a Valentine Heart Panel at our Vegas night theme dinner…….YEAH…..now  can practice my hand quilting some more!

IMG_4501

Isn’t this a wonderful seat pad?IMG_4502

Morning Coffee overlooking the sea is fantastic!

Morning Coffee overlooking the sea is fantastic!

Thanks to Christy we got to enjoy a KEURIG Coffee Maker this year……. that was so nice!  I must admit that it took a little bit of training and I so appreciate my coffee team leader, Barbara, for making sure that I got my coffee made just right each morning!  🙂

IMG_4510

Thank you Christy for sharing your Tern of the Century Beach “CASTLE” with us…….

IMG_4511

SHOES SHOES SHOES SHOES……all the wonderful SHOES IN THE NEWS…..these are some of my favorite shoes from quilt camp!

IMG_4512 IMG_4513 IMG_4514

Aren’t these antique trading cards (from Christy to Judy’s grandangel) endearing….it brings back memories……

IMG_4517

This was the big ticket shopping item at Quilt Camp this year……some people sell Girl Scout cookies and others sell TUTTOs!  🙂  i was impressed with all of the color choices….red, black, lime green, teal, purple……..eye candy for sure!

Fun and Food at Quilt Camp – Tern of the Century, Corolla, NC – February 2013

Posted By on February 24, 2013

Last week was a heavenly experience……quilt camp at Tern of the Century – and thanks to Christy, we lived like princesses for five days.  We laughed, we ate, we laughed, we sewed, we enjoyed the spendor of the ocean, we ate, we watched it snow, we ate, we played with Baron, we ate……oh did I mention that we had a five-day food fest?  LOL.

Here are some scenes from our table decor and the wonderful gourmet delights!

Isn’t this a wonderful idea…..everyone gets their own cup of veggies and dip  so DOUBLE DIPPING is a DELIGHTFUL  EXPERIENCE.  These parmesan crips that Alma made were SO GOOD….I wish that I had one right now!!!

IMG_4441 IMG_4461 IMG_4489 IMG_4497 IMG_4498 IMG_4499

It probably took Alma DAYS to make these peppermint heart delights!

IMG_4500 IMG_4523 IMG_4524 IMG_4525

Here we have the black and white team…..and my roomie, Karen Dumont, undoubtedly *HANDS DOWN* made the best eggplant parmesan that I have ever eaten…….I have been dreaming about it for the past week!

IMG_4533

I thought the toilet paper covered dinner favors were fun….thanks Karen!

IMG_4534 IMG_4537 IMG_4556

This over-the-arm-of-your-chair sewing caddy is fantastic!

IMG_4557 IMG_4558 IMG_4559

Alma - it COULD be 5 o'clock somewhere!!!!

Alma – it COULD be 5 o’clock somewhere!!!!

IMG_4565 IMG_4569

Now if you FIND a whole potato in your potato salad….is this like finding the baby doll in the King’s Cake?  LOL

IMG_4570

We laughed A LOT about this whole potato in the potato salad and I am not quite sure if we ever determined if Jackie or Barbara left it there.  WHATEVER, it gave us many happy moments and a great memory!

IMG_4571

These handstitched note cards are incredible…….we EACH got six….wow!

IMG_4585 IMG_4595 IMG_4596 IMG_4620

Ann made the lacy bookmarks….it almost makes me want to learn to use the embroidery function on my sewing machine!

IMG_4621 IMG_4627

This HOT DIP MIX was incredible and I didn’t want to forget what the box looked like.  I RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY!

IMG_4633

I think Christy must have spent hours making these yo yo’s…..what a novel idea of a message board!

IMG_4639 IMG_4640

Christy surprised us all with a recipe book of all of the wonderful things that we have eaten at quilt camp – this was our TEN-YEAR anniversary……..we had fun trying to figure out who had been around since the first Quilt Camp 10 years ago!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH CHRISTY – that was so very nice and thoughtful of you and we will all treasure this book!
