June Country Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild Meeting

Posted By on June 14, 2009

We had an informative meeting – we learned to use different rulers at our Country Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild on Saturday.  It is amazing how many tools there are for making cutting fabric easy – I think I may have to do some ruler shopping in the near future!  I took lots of pictures – so hopefully I will remember all the new things that I learned!

Michelle showed us a kaleidoscope ruler – and invited us to sign up for her class at Quilting Adventure the third Saturday in July.  I took a picture or two – or three.  🙂

An interesting bit of comraderie was witnessed.  Grace picked Jane’s winning ticket for a prize.  Then Jane picked Grace’s winning ticket for a prize.  Pretty fancy slight of hand!  🙂

Donna said our IF I WERE A FLOWER QUILTS were on display in Amelia the month of June and will be on display in Powhatan – at the library – during July.  I can’t wait to see this.  This will be the first time ever that I have had one of my quilts ANYWHERE on display.  TOO TOO EXCITING!

We had several crib quilts being turned in this month – pretty ones!  Next month we should have lots of baby crib quilts being turned in for our ICU Community Project – there will be a drawing for a prize – so that should be a motivator.  Everyone likes the idea of being eligible for a prize.

Our Show and Tells were spectacular this month.  Colleen finished her PIECE N PLENTY QUILT – and it has a wavy edge.  VERY IMPRESSIVE.  Lianna and her family made a memory quilt for her mother’s birthday – very creative.  Merci’s quilt won first prize EVERYWHERE – even at the state level.  It has beautiful hand quilting.  ALL OF THE SHOW AND TELLS THIS MONTH WERE VERY INSPIRING.

We were also so very happy to get Margie’s SUNBONNET SUE BLOCK – and as soon as the other Sue Blocks are turned in Colleen can put them altogether in a second guild quilt!  YEAH!

We missed several members who were vacationing, involved in other activities and/or recuperating from injuries and surgery.   We hope Catherine and Karen will be back with us – fully functioning – soon!!  We thought about assigning new jobs for some of our missing folks – but  we thought that would not be such a good idea!  🙂
