WILD AND CRAZY is on my DESIGN FLOOR, Monday, October 15, 2012

If you know me – even a little bit – you know that in the quilting world I am influenced by, inspired by, delighted by, entertained by, and motivated by Bonnie K. Hunter of Quiltville.com*! *One of my former professors told me one time that my sentences tended to be BIGGER than A, T, and T …. and maybe she had a point!
One of the things that Bonnie Hunter does that makes me smile is make unusual backs for her quilts! The backs of Bonnie’s quilts simply make me smile and I can hardly make myself put a traditional “ALL ONE COLOR” back on my own quilts. So that is what is on my design floor this week – A WILD AND CRAZY BACK for my Carolina Crossroads II Quilt. I used 2 1/2″ strips from leftover bits of binding fabric along with 28 yellow and green HSTs leftover “GREEN BAY PACKER” blocks that I made and had no clue what to do with……now they have a home! And, I am smiling for sure! Maybe I am even laughing a little!
This quilt back is not only WILD AND CRAZY, but it is also HUGE! When I spread it out on the floor, I POLITELY REQUESTED that family members refrain from stepping on it……LOL…..that was an INEFFECTIVE THING TO DO……almost immediately after my “VERY POLITE REQUEST” I had human PEEPS and furry critters appearing out of the woodwork to lounge on, sit on, and WALK ON the quilt back!
I did manage to get a photo of the quilt back unadorned by INVADERS. 🙂
AND……I do have a mini-design wall now – thanks to another favorite Bonnie friend *Bonnie Tucker…… Bonnie provided the supplies and the inspiration…..it is a fiberboard, covered with batting edged with binding. It was fun to make and I didn’t get TOO MUCH hot glue on my fingers!

Good Morning Sissy
You have been busy. Love your back. CC is one of the quilts I want to make. Having fun on Vaction. Wish you and Catherine were here. I going to sew, talk to you soon.
Bonnie
That is a fabulous back…and obviously everyone wants to snuggle up on it already!
I am a Bonnie Hunter fan in many ways too. I love your wild and crazy backs. It is the smart thing to do as well as artistic. I’ve started doing this several years ago just so I can use up more of my stash.
