Quilts finished in 2018
While I was at Quilt Camp in Corolla, North Carolina, I finished the binding on two baby quilts – Joyful and Ellie the Elephant.
1 Joyful Quilt
This quilt was designed by me and made with blocks and scraps donated by Karen DuMont. It was quilted by Joyce Bailey. This is a donation to the Teen Pregnancy Crisis Center, Richmond, VA.
2 Ellie the Elephant Quilt
This quilt was designed by me and made with 2″ squares from my own stash and that of my quilting friends. It was quilted by Joyce Bailey. It has not found a forever home yet.
3 Be My Neighbor Quilt by Moda This was a Swift Creek Quilters Group Challenge and Sara Parrish quilted it for me using a wonderful lush blanket for the backing. 68 1/2 x 92 1/2 This was completed at Nancy Buckland’s church retreat. This one includes some pieces of clothing that belonged to my parents, J. B. and Marjorie Albertson. This one stays with me – well I gave it to my daughter, Christi!
4 Vintage Farm Girl Quilt This is a sampler quilt that I made – inspired by my other quilt friends who were also making it – Judy DiMeo and Jane Waldrop – to name two! 71 x 78 1/2 It was worked on at the Retreat in La Plata and also at Nancy’s Church Retreat. It was quilted by Sara Parrish ($135.00) and does not yet have a permanent home.
5 I Spy Quilt This was quilted by Joyce Bailey and gifted to Camryn and Elliott Albertson. 54 x 54 Grandangel Chris Epps made the little I spy papers that I put in a FROZEN lunch box. This quilt lives in Kansas City, Missouri.
6 Memory Quilt King Sized Pillow with grey plush back. Made for Grandangel Harry Johnson in Frisco, Texas
7 Team Work Quilt (Wonky Diamond Pattern) I designed this pattern and named it Team Work because a lot of the fabric was donated to me by quilting friends. Sara Parrish did the quilting. Bonnie K. Hunter inspired the scrappy backs that I think are becoming my trademark! This was donated to flood victim students in Wilmington, NC, at the Blair School via the Friendship Quilt Group by Nancy Buckland. Hurricane Florence – Quilts of Compassion.
8 Patriotic Flower Baskets Quilt (red, white and and a little blue die cut flower baskets.) 63 x 73 This quilt is hanging in my living room…..it was expertly quilted by Sara Parrish (a real masterpiece.) Catherine Etter cut the baskets for me many years ago. Back is all red plus a little bit of my signature embellishment.
9 Twinkle Twinkle Baby Stars Quilt was designed by me and quilted by Sara Parrish. It was made mostly with 1 1/2″ squares and strips. It does not have a forever home.
10 Baby Goosey Quilt – I made this one originally for Atlas, my granddog,…..but since he ate a hole in one of my quilts, I am not sure that he will get this one! I designed the quilt but Bonnie K Hunter designed the little wild and goosey blocks…13 pieces in each 3 1/2 inch square block. This was quilted by Joyce Bailey – and the back is blue plush.
11 Garlic Knots Quilt was designed by Bonnie K. Hunter. I loved the border so much that I made it FIRST before I pieced the quilt. I like the border corners too! Sara Parrish did the quilting. 70 x 84 The back is made with 2 1/2″ strips plus add-a-border Modern Quilt Guild section. .
12 On Ringo Lake Quilt is a Bonnie K. Hunter Quiltville Mystery for 2017. I finished it one year later – November, 2018. The back may be one of my favorites – all 4 1/2″ strips. 75 x 90 It was quilted by Sara Parrish.
13 Pineapple Quilt. This was made with a special pineapple ruler – fun to make but my color choices didn’t please me…..too scrappy I think. The back is a luscious deep blue plush blanket! This was quilted by Joyce Bailey 71 x 80 1/2
14 Outer Space Galaxy Quilt – I designed and made this quilt, with contributions from my friends! 50 x 59 The Solar System Panel and the fabric for the binding was donated by Karen Dumont. Betty Pompey sewed the binding on for me and Joyce Bailey quilted it (but not for free!) This was donated to flood victim students at Blair School in Wilmington, NC.
15 Jewel Box Summer Stars Quilt This was Bonnie K. Hunter’s Leader Ender Challenge for 2018 – and most of the fabric came from Augusta Cole’s Cutting Bee (and she used a similar pattern.) Betty Pompey sewed on the binding and Joyce Bailey did the quilting. It was donated to Blair School, Wilmington, NC. 64 1/2 x 81 The back is made from 2 1/2″ strips.

Hi sweet friend – My goodness gracious, do you ever take a breath?Loved seeing all you have done and just 2018. Are you still doing Bonnie’s mystery two-at-a-time? I am saving this year’s steps, I guess because I can. Maybe I will and maybe I won’t! There is hope.
I let my blog go once I had it made into a book (Bolg 2Print). I enjoy looking back to all the quilting friends made and all the things learned. I am currently not starting big quilts, however, I am finally finishing my Civil War quilt that was a monthly quilt-along and started in 2010. What was I thinking? I never was particularly fond of that line of fabric. I am really thankful I had the forethought to buy the backing when offered. A happy surprise !
Hope all is well with you as we venture into this new era of life. You do keep the spirit alive ! Think of you often. Merry Christmas to you, Shirley and a prosperous New Year – I know it will be. Judy C
