I did someting NEW this year – I took a hand quilting class last Sunday at Quilter’s Corner! I CANNOT BELIEVE I FORGOT TO TAKE PICTURES. I guess I was really having a GOOD TIME! I am excited about learning to do this very special and age-old quilting technique though and after a few (thousand) hours of practice I should be pretty good at it. LOL. Now I just need to finish my Grandmother’s Flower Garden top so that I can hand quilt it!
I haven’t been called to substitute teach all week so I have been getting caught up on errands – and sewing!!!
I now have two quilts ready for quilting . The first is my Carolina Christmas Star Quilt with a my favorite BONNIE HUNTER-INSPTIRED scrappy back……..

Carolina Christmas Star Back
and my Carolina Christmas Poinsettia Quilt…….also with a scrappy back. It takes a couple of days to cut the squares and sew them together for the back – but I think it is interesting to choose the fabric and it is fun to do. I like the backs with the scrappy squares the best!!!

These two quilts were made with the two different blocks from Bonnie K. Hunter’s latest Carolina Christmas Mystery Quilt….I just decided to turn mine into two twin sized quilts instead of one very large one.
I really like the scrappy backs made with 12 1/2″ squares. I sure have used lots of fabric that I had in my stash – so even though I orginally PAID for the fabric – it FEELS free since I didn’t buy anything new! LOL. It is so easy to trick myself!!! :):)
In the Carolina Christmas Poinsettie back I used a lot of my STRIP SETS that I made for my borgello border for my BIRTH OF A SAMPLER QUILT – I guess I just got carried away and made too many. I wondered what I could do with them – and then the inspiration just set in!! I cut the strips into 12 1/2″ squares – and voila I had a back!
The last thing that I did this week was to make the top of Oscar’s 2nd Birthday wallhanging. My SIL is his God Momma and she is giving it to him for his birthday – I hope she likes it! I had fun picking out the fabric – WITH SUSAN’S HELP at QUILTER’S CORNER. Susan always knows just the right fabric that I am looking for!!!! 🙂 Some of you may recognize the pattern – it is Bonnie K. Hunter’s Christmas Lights Quilt Pattern (in miniature) from her 3-part mystery in Quiltmaker magazine!
Kerry – I HOPE YOU LIKE THIS!!!! 🙂
