Sara’s Quilting Cottage

Posted By on January 4, 2009

Saturday Marla and I took three quilts to Sara – a fantastic long arm quilter in Midlothian, VA.  Sara does fantastic work and has quilted for several folks who have published  in quilt magazines.

I have written about Sara’s Cottage before.  I LOVE IT.  I always longed for a life-sized playhouse when I was a young girl – and now I am longing for a LIFE-SIZED QUILTING COTTAGE.  Until I win the lottery I am just going to dream about it and visit Sara once in awhile.   (HM – it might be a good idea to buy a lottery ticket once in a while – I will put that on my TO DO LIST!  LOL)

Look at the wonderful pictures inside Sara’s quilting cottage – and in particular look at the quilt on Sara’s quilting machine.  That is one of the quilts made from ORPHAN BLOCKS by the Country Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild….I posted about that in December!  Sara added words, a border, and some applique at the bottom.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS QUILT.  I think we should raffle this quilt and give all of the money to the shelter!  Let me tell you, I would buy a lot of raffle tickets – it is a wonderful quilt – and to think that it was created from orphan blocks!

Enjoy the pictures – I am disappointed that you can’t see Marla’s THYME TO WATER QUILT – the sunlight was just not right – it is so impressive!  My Thyme to Water Quilt is still on my UFO LIST!

Enjoy the pictures of Marla taking a tour of Sara’s Quilting Cottage Jan. 3 – after our Williamsburg Guild Meeting and day exploring the shops in Williamsburg.   Do we know how to have fun, or what!
