Country Piecemaker’s June 2011
Posted By drsao on June 11, 2011
I did it – I finally made it to Powhatan for the Country Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild meeting. I am so glad that I did too. It was fun – inspiring – impressive – entertaining – gratitfying – productive – and the food was wonderful! Today, for the program, Bonnie and Sandie shared tips on making scrappy quilts and we worked on a Bonnie K. Hunter pattern “CHUNKY CHURNDASH.” The pattern is free at www.quiltville.com
SHOW AND TELL Monthly Blocks
I was REALLY impressed with the BLOCK OF THE MONTH LADIES AND QUILTING *I just made up that title, it isn’t the REAL title…..oh my. I wish that I had been making these blocks….they are wonderful, aren’t they!
AND LOOK AT THE NEXT ONE – Donna really made a great block!
ICU Baby Quilt Donations
The baby quilts being donated to the ICU this month are so cute……we had eleven this month! YEAH!
Scrappy Quilts
Here are some pictures of Scrappy Quilts made by Sandie and Bonnie! Ask me how much I LOVE Scrappy Quilts. In the program today Sandie and Bonnie gave us lots of tips for using “everything but the kitchen sink” scraps in our quilts!
I wasn’t a part of the program but I made a couple of Scrappy Quilts too….the first one is Bonnie K. Hunter’s Roll Roll Cotton Boll Mystery Quilt (November, 2010) quilted by Sara Parrish.
….and the second one is from a pattern called HIDDEN PINWHEELS from Augusta Cole’s CUTTING BEE…..Sara Parrish also quilted this one.
Here is our Christmas raffle quilt……Nancy is going to quilt it.
MORE SHOW AND TELL
Good vest!
We liked Cindy’s Quilt AND HER PURSE MADE FROM A JUMPER…….isn’t it cute!!
Nancy’s quilt is now hanging in the library!
The Program : CHUNKY CHURNDASH
Here are some random pictures of our sewing time!
Here is the CHUNKY CHURN DASH QUILT…..really cute!
Sandie and Bonnie – GOOD WORKSHOP….. and thanks to Bonnie Hunter for allowing us to use her pattern.
Some of us, not mentioning any names, are not that comfortable with KITCHEN SINK SCRAPPY…
…I call them the “reflective organized quilters.” Doesn’t that sound MUCH BETTER than “controlling!”
I think this is so impressive….Mildred quilted this on a regular sewing machine!
The room was COLD TODAY – thank you Cindy, for the sweatshirts…..*I got a green one!
All pictures are wonderful. And your RRCB is fabulous and finished, tow very good F’s. But please, do you know the pattern name the Ladies quilting applique blocks. I would very much like to add one of them to a sampler I am doing.
I love going to guild meetings with you and seeing all the wonderful show and tells. Thanks for sharing. Judy C
