My Design Wall, Monday, May 16, 2011

The title of this post is misleading, because I don’t have a design wall – but I do have a design floor!!!
TODAY my DESIGN FLOOR features Judy Laquidara’s latest quilt design – THE ROAD TO BROWNWOOD. I am working on the pieced border now! I am really loving this quilt.
I still can’t believe that Judy designed this quilt AND posted the instructions for it on her blog (www.patchworktimes.com) WHILE SHE WAS in the middle of packing to move, getting a house ready to sell, and looking for a new house in another state! This isn’t just ANY MOVE either – Judy had to find a home for her chickens too!
I have 24 (YES 24 – and don’t ask……) 5 1/2″ square ORPHAN HOURGLASS blocks using the same gold and raspberry fabric….as you see in this quilt top ……HM….. I wonder how I could incorporate those 24 blocks into the border……
If I can’t think of something, I will put those blocks into a scrappy back!

Love your colors It will be beautiful
Your Road to Brownwood is lovely!
Love the colors you chose. It looks great.
That’s gonna be a great quilt! I like it a lot!
Love your quilt. I think you could put those extra hourglass blocks to use around the border somhow even if you only do a few around each corner somehow. I like your colors!
I love to see how color can make a quilt design look so different. This is really stunning and looks so different from Judy’s Road to Brownwood, which is also lovely.
I love how yours turned out. The colors are beautiful!!! Don’t you just love Judy’s designs???
Love your colors!! just stunning
Ohhhh, I LOVE your quilt! And you’re right about Judy–how does she do it ALL!!!
