Socks and Connect the Dots
Posted By drsao on November 13, 2010
Did you ever have a day when things just WORKED? Well I had one of those days.
The weather was PERFECT (cold and sunny)……
My SIL and my neighbors all had GREAT TIMES in the Richmond Suntrust/McDonald’s 8k, half marathon and marathon……
and TA DA
I finally got my KNITTING TWO SOCKS AT A TIME on two circular needles figured out…..REALLY I DID!
LOOK…..
And now that I have it figured out I am not sure that I can say that I enjoyed it. There were so many strings and cables and everything stayed pretty much twisted and tangled……I stayed with it……
I might even try this again later….. MUCH LATER. At least I have conquered the technique. I won’t be finishing these two socks because they would be too big to fit anyone and I am not inclined to spend lots of time knitting socks for the hippos at the zoo! Even though these BEGINNINGS OF SOCKS will be ripped out just like all of the others, I do feel good that I got it figured out….FINALLY!
All was not lost though – I did get inspired to try the method of using four needles to knit socks – and after the struggle with the double cables I LOVED working with four little straight needles.
This I will finish. I enjoyed it – yes, I even loved doing it. I AM HAPPY. For now I am going to stick with this method and just knit one sock at a time. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT POSSESSED ME TO THINK THAT I COULD KNIT TWO SOCKS AT ONCE ANYWAY (to borrow a phrase from Judy C of NC!)
AND THAT IS NOT ALL – I did some quilt piecing too!
I got the top of CONNECT THE DOTS completed. I didn’t make the borders exactly like Judy L designed them but it is close and I am happy! I love the pieced border!
Thanks to Judy L of Patchworktimes.com for this design. I really enjoyed making this quilt!
And now I am going to pull scraps from my stash to get ready for the Bonnie K. Hunter QUILTVILLE ROLL ROLL COTTON BOLL MYSTERY QUILT that will start November 19th!
I hope you all had a GOOD DAY TOO!
HOORAY! I knew you could do it….finally figured out the “cast on”…let us know how you go with the heel turn 🙂
